We loved our stay at Number One Porters Court. We stayed for 12 days over May half term. We found the villa spacious and well equipped, perfect for a family of 4. Most mornings started with a swim in the communal pool, with the surrounding gardens a haven for hummingbirds, one morning I counted 5 !!

The location of the villa was perfect, a 5 minute walk to Alleynes beach which in my opinion is the best on the west coast. We used the local buses a lot so didn't feel the need to hire a car.

We ate out at Lone Star and Santi which were both within walking distance from the villa, on other occasions we jumped on a bus to Holetown. We also ate in a few evenings as the kitchen was so well equipped. Every possible utensil was provided.

Jeanine was very helpful and helped with transfers to and from the airport. Karen the housekeeper visited twice a week and was very friendly and efficient.

All in all a fabulous holiday in Barbados, this was our third visit to this wonderful country and will be back again next year. We'd definitely love to stay at Number One Porters Court again !! A beautiful villa in a wonderful country.

Alison . C . - May 2017.

"We have recently returned from a wonderful 9 day stay at Number One Porters Court. The villa is beautiful and extremely well equipped.

The location is perfect, a short walk to the beach and local restaurants/beach bars. Lone Star was a Christmas Eve treat and lived up to all of our expectations.

We arrived to a spotlessly clean villa, and Jeanine the property manager was very helpful. We fell in love with Barbados, and would love to return to Number One Porters Court".

Louise . B . - December 2016.

"We cannot praise Number One Porters Court highly enough. From the moment we arrived we were impressed with the beautiful, tranquil location and the light, airy and spacious villa. The decor was very restful with tasteful, high quality furnishings and was a real home from home. The villa was very clean, no doubt thanks to Karen the lovely housekeeper who visited twice a week. Every little thing had been catered for including the provision of toilet roll and beach towels and it was great to have a welcome pack of groceries on our arrival.

Air conditioning and fans ensured the interior of the villa remained lovely and cool even when it was very hot and humid outside so sleeping was never a problem and the beds were extremely comfortable. The veranda was a favourite place to sit to have our breakfast and pre-dinner drinks in the evenings. Surrounded by beautiful, tropical gardens and lots of wildlife including lizards and humming birds there was always something interesting to watch. We even saw a family of monkeys one day feeding under the trees !

The communal pool is beautifully kept with sun beds and umbrellas and surrounded by lovely gardens. The beautiful beach is 5 minutes walk away. There are a number of good restaurants and rum shacks nearby and Holetown is a 20 minute walk if you need a supermarket, ATM or bigger choice of restaurants. If it's too hot to walk the local buses run straight past Porters Court.

We would definitely recommend this property to others and would love to stay there again if we return to Barbados in the future".

Deborah . J. - November 2016.

"Number One Porters Court is exceptional and beautiful.

The surroundings with the lush exotic garden are so lovely. The villa is in a quiet secluded location, close to the private pool and very handy to the beach, just a short walk away. Within minutes to a number of very good restaurants.

The villa is well equipped and the beds deserve a special mention as they were very comfortable. The property manager Jeanine was very helpful and friendly as was housekeeper Karen. Both very warm and welcoming and willing to help in any way. A terrific and memorable holiday !"

Lynda . V . - August 2016.

"We had a wonderful time at Number One Porters Court. The villa was exceptionally well-equipped, spotlessly clean (thanks to the lovely maid, Karen) and comfortable.

A great location on the west coast, a short walk from the beach. The pool was beautiful, very clean, and mostly we had it to ourselves, which was an unexpected treat !

The location of Number One is perfect as it is at the end of the private road within Porters, and so nobody passes by and it is the most private of all the 8 villas within the development.

We had a very enjoyable and extremely memorable holiday - our 3 girls were extremely comfortable in their spacious bedroom and loved Barbados !

Recommend 'Lone Star' for a special dinner (went on our daughter's 11th birthday), also Harrison's Cave, Animal Flower Cave and Earthworks Pottery which has a beautiful (and very reasonable) treetop restaurant.

Thank you, we loved staying in this beautiful villa and would have no hesitations in recommending it to our friends and family.

Best wishes",

Jo, John, Alice, Lily & Emma - August 2016.

"Number One Porters Court is a lovely comfortable base in Barbados.

The villa was beautifully furnished and very comfortable. Ideal for two couples with two en-suites and an outside sitting/eating area.

The location of Number One is quiet and tucked away and our only company were lizards, birds and toads !

The property was immaculately clean and Keri-Ann came in 3 times during our 9 night stay to change our linen.

The villa is ideally located for the west coast and is a short drive or bus ride from Holetown or Speightstown.

The nearest beach is fabulous (Alleynes Bay) with two bar/restaurants (Ju-Ju's and Santi) who have fantastic sunbeds for hire at BDS$ 15.

We can highly recommend this property for a west coast based holiday".

Julie. M . - April 2016.

"Number One is perfect in every way !

Our 4th stay at Porters Court, and our 2nd stay at Number One.

Just a superb home ! Quiet, safe and relaxing with all you could want for your stay, but only a short walk from the best beach on the west coast.

Thank you. We will be back soon !"

Andrew. F. - March 2016.

"We are return visitors and that ought to say a lot.

Keri-Ann is still the most attentive of housekeepers with detail and perfection at the top of her list.

Locally, the beach, which is really only 2 minutes walk away will not disappoint, the supermarket in Holetown is well stocked and restaurants vary in price but all are really good.

I would honestly defy anyone to find a way to stay stressed when Number One is their Bajan base".

John.W. - Slough, UK. October 2015.

"The four of us (2 couples) spent 3 weeks here in March. This is the 5th time that the four of us have stayed here at Number One and we’ve booked again for next year. Even though we are returning guests we were still greeted by Sandra from the managing agents to ensure that everything was in order and to show us around the villa. There is a good folder explaining everything that you need to know and light switches are clearly labelled.

It’s in a superb location for the beach (a few minutes walk) and a great base to explore the island by car. The villa is in a quiet complex, is well equipped and is kept spotlessly clean by Keri-Ann.

The local buses are great value for short journeys but can get quite crowded.

It’s become our second home to enjoy some winter sunshine, we return year after year, so what more is there to say. Can’t wait for 2016".

March 2015.

"We stayed at Porters Court for 3 weeks in November 2014. This was the second stay at Number One for the 4 of us (2 married couples) and hopefully it won't be our last. If you are looking for a truly relaxing holiday, this is for you. Because it is such a small complex, the pool was never busy, in fact most days we felt as though it was our own private pool.

Number One has recently changed hands and the new owners have already put their personal touch on the property with lovely new soft furnishings.

Sandra, who worked for the local managing agents, looked after us so well. Nothing was too much trouble. We only had to mention small problems and they were sorted within hours. She is a great character and always so cheerful and obviously very experienced in this field. Keri-Ann, the cleaner, kept the place spotless and was always so pleasant and helpful, to the extent that when it was raining heavily one day, she drove us to the restaurant we had booked for my husband's birthday and then picked us up later - that's real service !

There is nothing that I can think of that Number One doesn't provide. It's like home from home, everything you use at home, you will find there. The 2 spacious en suite bedrooms were ideal for us, with plenty of space in the living areas so that we never felt we were falling over each other. There are plenty of top quality restaurants within a short bus ride, not to mention a selection of beaçh cafe/restaurants within a short walking distance.

Overall, although after the first week we thought we had probably 'done' Barbados, by the end of the holiday we were all talking of going back, so what better recommendation".

November 2014.

"This wasn't our first time at Number One, and it definitely won't be our last ! The villa is magnificent, elegantly furnished and with a superbly equipped kitchen. We love to cook and there was no feeling, as there often is in rental properties, that the owners had locked away all the 'good stuff'. Top quality pans and decent knives, three solid chopping boards, (one of the bigger ones doubled as a second tray!) and basic 'fixings' like salt, pepper, chilli, coffee etc.

The beds made up as a super king are fabulously comfy.

Keri Ann is a magnificent housekeeper. She keeps the villa spotless and welcoming. Sandra, the manager from West Coast Villas, always checks that all is well and reacted promptly when the ceiling fan on the verandah went wonky. Fixed within 3 hours of reporting the fault, and that's impressive for such a laid-back island !

For eating out, we love to 'do lunch' when it's not as humid as in the evening. We used to love lunch at the Tides, but they no longer open for lunch in the 'off' season, i.e. any time between May and November. Cin Cin, Champers in Hastings, and The Fish Pot at Little Good Harbour are our favourites. We advise calling ahead if you'd like a table near the rail by the sea at any of these restaurants. Just Grillin' by Sunset Crest is good for food and very relaxed and informal, as is the Beach House opposite.

The new owners of the villa have recently freshened up the decor and soft furnishings, but the excellent facilities haven't changed.

We thoroughly recommend Number One and the fabulous kitchen may well save you a fortune on eating out !"

October 2014.

"Hi Irene,

Many thanks for organising our holiday so beautifully ! This was the perfect home in paradise.

This villa is magnificent ! It is equipped to be the best holiday home anyone could wish for. Stylish decor, comfortable furnishings, HUGE and extremely well-equipped kitchen (they even supply wooden tongs for getting muffins out of the toaster !) and a shady verandah with elegant patio furniture. The beds (incredibly comfortable) can be made up as king sized doubles, and the bedding easily exceeds the standards of just about any so-called 5 star hotel in which we've ever stayed. The base sheet, for example, doesn't wrap itself around your ankles when you're sleeping because it's too small to tuck in around all 4 sides of the mattress, but stays anchored securely. Not once, in 18 nights of sleeping did we have to get out of bed and re-arrange the sheets. Are you reading this...Hilton / Marriott / Sheraton etc ??!

This excellence is due in part to the owners having spent the money on quality bedding which is intended to fit a 7' by 6.6' bed but also due to the wonderful Keri-Ann, whose attention to detail in preparing and servicing the villa is amazing. Keri-Ann is a gem and Sandy from West Coast Villas either phoned or called to see if everything was all right.

We particularly appreciated the little touches, like the umbrella/parasol tub just by the front door, so you can shade yourself from either sun or the occasional tropical shower when you go out for a walk. WiFi worked well which was great because, though we were officially on holiday, we still needed to keep in touch with business.
The communal gardens are lovely.

I know I've already mentioned the kitchen but, as a keen cook, that is an important room for me. I rarely travel without my 'basics'...knives, decent chopping boards, tongs, non-stick frying pan/skillet, scissors, in short, anything without which I would have to 'make do'. No need to do that here ! Wusthof knives, 3 good, solid chopping boards, top quality heavy duty Tefal cookware with ovenproof handles, all the utensils you could possibly want and more.

Number One is certainly OUR number one and we can't wait to go back".

Linda & John - Berkshire, UK. May 2014.

"What a wonderful villa. We have loved being in what is obviously a loved house. The owner and the housekeeper make this place so inviting and comforting. We have no worries about recommending such a glorious place to say in Barbados. We do worry that if everyone reads this it will be harder to book, but whatever ! Love it here".

John - London, UK. May 2014.

"Hello Irene,

We had a fantastic holiday thanks to your brilliant organisation, Number One Porters Court was lovely and the West Coast Villas reps. were so helpful.

We couldn't fault our accommodation, we lost our water supply one day due to a burst pipe but lots of bottled water appeared as if by magic so there was no problem.

We are seriously thinking of returning next year. We will be in touch.

Kind regards",

David & Jane - Leicestershire UK. February 2014.

"Really nice place to stay - like a home from home. Has all the amenities you need in the house and a car port for parking a hired car. Nice veranda to sit out on in the mornings and evenings. Very helpful maid also. Lovely sandy beach and sea about 10 mins. walk away. Would stay here again and recommend to friends".

Maidstone, UK. October 2013.

"We stayed in Number One Porters Court and loved it !

The house is beautifully furnished with everything I could ever need - just like home. Very clean, lots of closet space and very very comfortable beds - no skimping here !

Books full of info on what to do, where to eat, shop etc...a pleasure to be there. Nice one level living with a beautiful veranda surrounded by nice tropical plants. Private but not if you want to mingle with others. Great time walking around the area meeting locals and 'yellow' 'fun' buses to everywhere was a great choice - very easy from the house location to get around.

Very Helpful keri-Ann, and Sandy of West Coast Villas (she set up all our tours) is an added bonus.

We have rented privately before and it has never been this easy. Everything from start to finish went smoothly. We appreciate the availability of getting a starter food pack and transport arrangements + all the info sheets around the house and everything being clearly labelled, i.e. light switches etc. Its the little things that matter !

It was the prefect choice for me, my husband and our son. Thanks so much for a lovely vacation !"

Barb - New Jersey, USA. July 2013.

"This had to be the best holiday we have ever experienced.

The accommodation was first class and the swimming pool was a treat. We were met at the airport and driven directly to Porters Court where we sipped our cocktails watching humming Birds just feet away. I would recommend thid holiday experience to anyone wishing to realise their dream break.

There is an outstanding beach a few hundred yards away, simply the best".

Plymouth, UK. June 2013.

"The experience of a lifetime, Bajan style. Relaxed and chilled.

What fantastic accommodation. Superbly clean, everything including the torch was where the info. said it was.

Kerri-Ann was lovely, friendly and very efficient. The hammock was a joy to laze in on the verandah with a cool drink watching the humming birds flying around the trees. Walking past the colourful bouganvillias to the pool was a gardeners delight and in the evening trying to spot the tree frogs hiding in the shrubs was fun.

The sea is a short stroll over the road and here I spotted turtles swimming close to the shore. Snorkelling is good too with one of the blue fish covered in what i can only describe as its own disco lights ! Buying fresh fish off the street vendors was a treat. And eating it was even better. Try squeezing some lime over and letting it stand for 10 minutes before grilling for only a few minutes. Yum. If you catch sight of the road tennis, stop and watch. It's played on something akin to a table tennis table but on the ground by the road. You have to be fit to crouch down and play this sport !

Oh I forgot to mention how comfy the beds are. I slept like a log but found it best to keep the window shut and air con on. Lovely lovely lovely. Thank you. We had a wonderful stay in this beautiful Bajan property".

Surrey, UK. June 2013.

"I was in Barbados for work and the confirmation of the travel dates was made at the last minute, which left me scrabbling around to find somewhere decent to stay. Given the length of my time there, I didn't want to stay in a hotel but I wanted somewhere with an efficient maid service and where I could work quietly. I certainly got that with Number One Porters.

The villa is lovely, two nice bedrooms with their own bathrooms (there is also a guest loo off the kitchen, which I didn't notice until my second visit !) and a great open plan space with a well equipped and large kitchen area (with washing machine, a dining table for four (usually covered with my work papers) and a seating area for six. Outside on the veranda there was another table.

Keri Ann came in twice a week to clean, change the bedding and - this was a Godsend in the heat - do all my laundry too ! She is a treasure.

The property is very well maintained and Keri Ann keeps it spotlessly clean.

I really do recommend this as a place to stay in Barbados. It's in a very nice part of the island, just outside Holetown which has some fun nightlife and a very good supermarket, and there are some great beaches and bars very close by.

Andrew - London, UK. June 2012.

"We couldn't recommend Number One Porters Court highly enough. The villa itself was exactly what we were after.

The villa is one of eight in a small community 1 mile north of Holetown and a short walk from the fabulous platinum coast beaches. It is ideally placed in a quiet location, but within walking distance of numerous restaurants, rum shops and bars. The complex has a well maintained pool which makes for a refreshing dip between topping up the tan.

We were met at the property by Keri-Ann, the maid, who does an excellent job in keeping the villa spotlessly clean. Keri-Ann showed us around the property and the wider complex, explaining how things worked, and showed us the pedestrian access to the beach road. She then left us to enjoy our holiday, popping back every few days to clean and wash towels and bedding.

The property has two double/twin en suite bedrooms and a good size open plan lounge / kitchen / dining area. In addition there is a large veranda, perfect for dining al fresco.

In summary, this property was absolutely perfect for us, and I only have one regret - that we couldn't stay longer.  We'll certainly be back".

CF & friends – West Yorkshire, UK. March 2012.

"Thank you Irene for all of your hard work in organizing this for us.

All the information that you provided was fantastic; both before our arrival and in the villa !!

We ABSOLUTELY loved Number One and it became a home for us over the (almost) 6 weeks.

Just perfect in every way.

I was truly impressed that the villa’s owner called us on the 2nd or 3rd day to see if all was OK; it certainly was and we said so.

We added informational brochures - on St. Nicholas Abbey, Mt. Gay Rum, St. John’s Church - to the plastic sleeves of the information booklet in the villa. We hope this will help others in deciding to explore the great island of Barbados !

You have an excellent website and it’s very easy to navigate; great pictures and loads of information. I certainly will recommend it to others.

All the best to you !

"Hi Irene,

We are having a ball; the place is more than we imagined, the weather is fantastic, the food and all the folks are great. We love Kerri-Ann and Denny and Number One Porters is just perfect. We eat ALL our meals out doors, enjoying the beautiful weather.

All is working out fantastic and again thanks so much for making all the arrangements !

Speak again after we return home in March.

Regards",

"Really lovely place. Nice blend between authentic colonial feeling and convenient mod-cons. Use the side door/passage for access to road and beach - a lot more convenient than walking the long way around as we did. 5 mins. walk to the beach, unless you just smile at the guards at the Royal Pavilion, act like a resident and stroll right through".

"The accommodation was excellent - spotlessly clean and very well fitted out. Keri Ann greeted us on arrival and came back in to clean and change towels& bedding twice a week. It was lovely and quiet, tucked in the corner of the development and only a 10 minute walk to the most fantastic beach. There are several great places to eat and drink within walking distance or a short bus/taxi ride. We will be back !"

"We had a great holiday and found your services were absolutely brilliant. The electric BBQ was great - we used it all the time".

"Having spent many holidays in various excellent hotels in Barbados we
decided to 'try' a villa holiday. We're hooked - we loved the freedom a villa
allows. The villa is very well equipped. Kerri-Ann,
the housekeeper is lovely, very friendly and helpful - the villa is kept

absolutely spotless. Dennis the gardener is an unobtrusive presence,
initially, but is always ready to assist (especially with advice on Bajan
cooking!)

For us, the location is perfect - 2 minutes walk from the beach and the
warm, calm waters of the St. James Coast. JuJu's Beach Bar is just across the
road and is perfect for extremely reasonably priced local home cooking or
cocktails at sunset - beach style.

When we felt in the mood for a more sophisticated lunch or evening meal
we strolled across to the Lone Star - good food and a bit of 'star spotting'!

Holetown is a 20 minute walk away (5 minute drive - by bus if you are
brave - car for the feint of heart!) and has a good and varied selection of
restaurants and bars.

Needless to say, we have just booked our third holiday at Porters Court!

"Hi Irene,

Just a quick e mail to thank you for your very helpful information pack and advice before we left.

We had a wonderful week, it was very restful and we hope to go for a little longer next year.

The house was very comfortable and we really enjoyed our week there.

Best wishes,"

" The villa was above and beyond our expectations. It was extremely well-equipped and more beautiful than the photos. We were very impressed with everything".

CJ - Kent, UK. February/March 2008.

Our two week honeymoon has just been amazing and memorable.

The villa is perfect, everything we could have dreamed of and more. We highly recommend a trip (or several) on the yellow buses – some of our best adventures have been on these and for any future visitors, do not miss the ‘Fisherman’s Pub’ at Speightstown for your introduction to Bajan food.  Last word of advice – snorkel and swim every day – there’s so much to see out there. Wishing everyone who stays in this magical house a wonderful stay – just like ours has been."

 D & L - Dorset, UK.

"Well, what can we say, a beautiful villa, warm weather, friendly people, good food, great time …..!  Our fourth visit - gets better each time. No doubt we will return".

 S & G - Dorset, UK.

"Thank you for letting us stay in this beautiful villa.  We have had a wonderful time and hope to return soon. Highlights were the yellow buses as we often chose to travel on these even though we hired a car. - they were such good fun.  Oistins on a Friday night – what an experience. The Fisherman’s Pub on a Wednesday night – only for the broad minded!

The Bajan people are fantastic and quite rightly proud of their island. They want visitors to enjoy it, and oh boy, we enjoyed it! "

 J & D

"Our introduction to the Caribbean, and in particular Barbados, has been momentous.  Apart from the obvious benefits of a lovely climate, stunning beaches and warm sea, our lasting memory is of a delightful, courteous and hospitable population who all seem to have our enjoyment as a number one priority and the eating out was spectacular. Thank you for equipping this holiday home so thoughtfully and tastefully".

 P & D

"There was so much to see and do in Barbados!  We had a hire car and saw most of the island during our stay plus days out, eg Atlantis submarine trip, and ‘Cool Runnings’ catamaran (an absolute must!)  We swam with turtles and fish off the reef at Folkstone and Paynes Bay.  We tried a variety of restaurants from The Fish Pot, Cocomos, The Coach House etc. - all very good especially The Fish Pot.  Many thanks for the use of this beautiful ‘House in the Sun’."

 R and J & L and A (PS We’ll be back)

"We really enjoyed our two week long-awaited holiday on this most beautiful island with its most beautiful beaches, flora and fauna. This villa is so comfortable and inviting. We received a very warm welcome from Erna who really does keep the villa in a spotless condition.  Many thanks".

 C & A

"We had a fantastic time and the villa was spot on – it’s a great place with everything we needed. It has been a great holiday but it went far too quickly as always."

 L & S

"We had a wonderful, relaxing week – it was our first time in Barbados and we really enjoyed it. We explored a lot of the island even though it has been tough to tear ourselves away from the lovely verandah. This villa is beautiful and we hope to return one day.  Thank you".

 A & M

"Number One Porters Court was exactly as described.  We were able to relax there.  The verandah was a great boon – either as a wonderful place to sit having breakfast or, as in a few days, a shelter from the short burst of tropical rain.  Erna kept the place spotless and Dennis has created beautiful colourful gardens".

 P & C

"We enjoyed a wonderful stay - relaxing, comfortable, peaceful setting. Erna and Dennis looked after us exceptionally well. Tried many restaurants and enjoyed them all.  Our 20th visit to the Island but our first to Number One Porters Court – but hopefully not our last.  Looking forward to returning to this beautiful villa next year.  Breakfast on the verandah was wonderful with the cooling tropical breezes. Thank you so much".

 P and J & N and R

"Barbados far exceeded our hopes, with its beautiful beaches, clear seas and contrasting scenery. The people are so friendly and helpful.  Even our taxi driver dropped by for a chat.  Superb restaurants – must be some of the best in the world.  Number One Porters Court felt like a home from home.  We really appreciated Erna’s help and her friendliness.  Apart from saying ‘interesting’ roads (!) we’ve run out of superlatives.  A wonderful, memorable holiday".

 P and K & I and D

"A truly great twelve days here – hardly a drop of rain!  Although 30 seconds after we walked to the Lone Star restaurant for dinner last night the heavens opened for ten minutes! Villa is in a nice secluded spot, lots of time spent on the verandah where we have seen lots of birds and wildlife. Very nice accommodation – just about everything you need. The pool was lovely and we spent lots of time there.  We have been to Barbados a couple of times before so we didn’t venture out much this time and this property is perfect for a lazy holiday – we would certainly return".
