THE LOCATION:-

Palm Beach Condominiums are situated on St. James' beach in Holetown on Barbados’ beautiful ‘platinum’ west coast.

Many activities including scuba diving, catamaran trips, jet skis and glass bottomed boat trips are available locally. Snorkel off the beach amongst the colourful tropical fish and watch the huge frigate birds soaring overhead or diving into the sea to catch fish. Turtles also swim in the shallows off beach so you may be lucky enough to encounter them whilst paddling or swimming.

Two world-class golf courses - The Royal Westmoreland and Sandy Lane - are within easy reach.

An excellent selection of restaurants to suit all tastes and budgets are located in Sunset Crest & Holetown. Other amenities including the Limegrove Lifestyle Centre - with its shops, cafes & cinemas, plus lots more - bars, banks, a supermarket, mini markets, a butchers, an ice cream parlour, wine shops, fruit and veg. stalls, bakeries, coffee shops, a Post Office, medical centres, the Chattel Village shops (offering everything from souvenirs to gourmet food), and Sunset Mall - a shopping plaza with a small department store (Cave Shepherd) and a cafe plus other outlets - are also within easy walking distance.

THE ACCOMMODATION:-

Lounge# 14 Palm Beach is an attractive, modern, ground floor condominium.

This is one of 14 privately-owned condos set within lush tropical, landscaped gardens that lead down to the white sandy beach and the enticing crystal clear blue waters of the Caribbean Sea.

Outside facilities include a freshwater swimming pool (3 feet to 7 feet deep and approximately 30 feet long by 15 feet wide), a sun deck, loungers, sunshades and an outdoor shower.

This bright and airy property is very tastefully decorated and furnished in pretty tropical colours.

The lounge leads out to the large veranda offering a ceiling fan, wall lights, 4 comfy chairs and a side table. The beach is accessed via a gate that is just a few metres to the left of the pathway and gardens outside # 14. Next to the gate you will find a BBQ which is available for guests’ use - also several sun loungers that guests are welcome to take to the beach. The swimming pool (attractively illuminated at night) is a short walk to the right through the gardens. Dining AreaRelax and enjoy watching the hummingbirds, friendly black & yellow bananaquit birds & sparrows - as well as the shy mongooses and little lizards that scurry around in the gardens.

The spacious lounge/dining room - which has a rear entrance door that leads out from the lounge - is equipped with a ceiling fan, a tower fan, cable TV, 2 sofas, a coffee table, side tables & lamps, a dining table & chairs and a telephone for accepting incoming calls and making outgoing local calls - which are free. For guests from the UK there iKitchens a UK style 3 pin electrical socket in the lounge.

Free WI-FI is available in the condo, on the veranda and in the gardens.

The kitchen is well-equipped and includes a portable standing fan, an oven & hob, a large fridge/freezer, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, kettle, an iron & ironing board, crockery, cutlery, utensils, cookware and glassware.

BedroomThe air-conditioned bedroom offers a ceiling fan, beds that can be made up as a king size or 2 singles, bedside tables & lamps, a hairdryer, a chest of drawers and a wall mirror. The bedroom leads into the dressing area with a wall fan, basin, ample wardrobe space and a small safe suitable for guests' valuables. The WC/wet room leads off from the dressing area (which can also be accessed from the lounge).

There are parking spaces to the rear of the condos should you wish to hire a car during your stay. Alternatively, there are parking spaces just outside the entrance to Palm Beach.

Wet RoomPat, the manager - who lives in one of the Palm Beach Condominiums - will meet and greet you on your arrival at the condo and she will happily answer any questions that you may have regarding your stay in Barbados.

To calculate the cost per person, please divide the rates by the number of people sharing.

The rates shown above include maid service (3 times a week), gas, electricity (including air-conditioning), linen and towels (including beach towels).

We do not currently offer to pre-book transfers from the airport, however there are always plenty of vehicles for hire just outside the arrivals hall at Grantley Adams International Airport.

OPTIONAL EXTRA:- 

A welcome pack of groceries can be ordered to your specification. It will be delivered to the apartment prior to your arrival and you will be required to pay for the items after you arrive.

RESTRICTIONS:-

No pets.

No smoking in the apartment.

This is a holiday rental property and cannot be hired as a party venue.

HOW TO BOOK AND TERMS & CONDITIONS:-

If you would like to make a booking for # 14 Palm Beach please e-mail us at : barbados@relaxingretreats.co.uk  

We will then e-mail you to advise whether the dates you require are still available. If the dates are available, once you have confirmed to us that you wish to make a booking, we will reserve the dates and we will e-mail you our booking procedure (outlined below).

Credit card payments are not accepted. This is in order to keep the rates low and to avoid high bank charges for this small business.

A sterling (GBP) money transfer for 25% of the total cost of your accommodation is required to secure a booking.

Once your deposit payment has been received by us you will receive a Booking Confirmation via e-mail, together with our 'Car Hire In Barbados and 'Before you Travel To Barbados' information.

Your balance payment via a sterling (GBP) money transfer will be required 8 weeks prior to your arrival at # 14 Palm Beach.

We will send you a balance payment reminder 2 weeks before your payment is due.

We will e-mail you a receipt as soon as your balance payment has been received.

If your booking is made less than 8 weeks prior to your arrival date at # 14 Palm Beach, the full payment will be required when you make your booking.

We will send you our 'Useful information' documents 10-14 days prior to your arrival in Barbados.

In addition to the comprehensive and detailed advice, helpful tips, recommendations and maps, your ‘Useful information’ documents will also contain:-

  • A customised local area map with detailed directions to your accommodation in Barbados.
  • The name and telephone numbers of the person who will be your contact on the island if you have any questions or concerns during your stay.
  • The number of the guests’ telephone in your accommodation – complete with international dialling codes – so that you can advise the number to any family and friends who you think may wish to contact you while you are in Barbados.
  • An invitation to pre-book a ‘welcome pack’ of groceries.

The following cancellation charges apply:-

Cancellation more than 8 weeks prior to the arrival date - Loss of deposit.

Cancellation less than 8 weeks prior to the arrival date - Loss of 100% of the total cost.

As with all holidays, travel insurance is strongly recommended.

We were very happy with the accommodation. It had good storage and hanging space and the kitchen was well equipped.

The location of the apartment was ideal for us (as we didn't want to hire a car unless it was necessary). Everything was within easy walking distance, and being right on the beach was a joy. The snorkelling on the breakwater was up there with the best, and beyond it, we were able to see three turtles early one morning.

The other residents are very pleasant and the complex is extremely well kept in comparison to some others. "# 14 was a wonderful find. It is all you would like in an accommodation: cleanliness, security, management on site, steps to the beach - and a welcome pack of shopping if you wish (paid for locally).

It is situated nicely in that you can have both the peaceful tranquillity of having a slice of great beach with clear blue waters (that at times you can have, what it seems, is to yourself) or you can enjoy the hustle and bustle of Holetown life (steel drums and entertainment at Surfside - or Sunday night karaoke street parties outside the One Love Bar).

The property has a great lush, tropical garden with greenery, coconut trees and flowers. There is a pool for those that might opt for that (though we did not need to utilize it since the beach has refreshingly wonderful and swimmable water). Also, loungers are available to take onto the beach (very convenient). You literally step outside your door and walk maybe less that 20 steps and ...BOOM...the beach is there. You can then walk along the coast in either direction to explore the other nearby beaches and resorts dotted along the west coast.

# 14 is well appointed: great kitchen with ice in freezer, cooker, microwave, utensils and glasswear should you want to self-cater some meals. Plenty of storage/space for clothes and luggage. Effective A/C unit with enough electric fans throughout the apartment as well.

Pat (the on site manager) was very communicative and was accommodating to us (very grateful for that). We fell in love with the west coast of Barbados and this condo was that perfect base that allowed us to do so, so effortlessly. We did not have a car but a bus stop is just at the corner (1 minute away) allowing us to get to both the northern tip of the island (Animal Flower Cave) or south towards Bridgetown (in our case, Fitts Village) very efficiently and cheaply (only two Barbadian dollars no matter how far you are going and an experience in itself !)

Book this condo and fall in love with west coast like we did. (Mango Bay Hotel next door, just FYI... We found no problems with some music coming from there, when a majority of the time we heard the lapping of the waves against the shore. That is the only music I really ever remember hearing. Thank you for sharing this slice of paradise !"

""The location is perfect right next to the beach and there are plenty of sun loungers to take onto the beach too so we spent a lot of time there. We booked number 7 (first floor) but were actually staying in 14 (ground floor), this was just a mix up and were offered to move into the correct apartment the following day, but decided to stay put as 14 was really nice too and easier to get to the beach from the ground floor.


Pat (the apartment manager) arranged some shopping for our arrival which was great, and was very helpful throughout our stay.


The bedroom has good air conditioning which made things very comfortable, although the the windows are more traditional with shutters rather than glass.


It's really easy to just walk out of your door to find something to do/eat.

 
All in all a great place to stay, especially if you just need a base for exploring the island (we rented a car), and lounge around on the beach".

"Dear Irene, 

Firstly, we had a very good time, Aside from 1 day, during the remainder 
of the holiday the weather was as expected. 

The position of the condos we found to be excellent. Having the ability 
to go to either the pool or the beach within a few steps was something 
that we greatly enjoyed. In particular, being able to take loungers onto 
the beach was brilliant. 

The proximity to the local supermarket, shops and restaurants is a huge 
plus. On our first evening we had a concern that the noise from the 
Mango Bay Hotel might be a problem but everything died down by about 11pm. 

The pool area and the gardens were extremely well maintained. 

As you know, due to lack of availability at # 14, we moved from # 7 to # 
14 during our holiday. Both condos were very nice although on balance we 
feel we preferred # 14. The better points were: 

The wet room/shower (hand held as well as high shower). 
2 settees in living room. 
Bigger TV. 
Smaller dining table - we like having our evening meal on the terrace 
and the table in # 14 was easier to move than in # 7 - which was huge ! 

The furnishings and equipment in both condos were very good. The beds 
were extremely comfortable and the regular change of linen, towels and 
beach towels worked well. 

The arrangements regarding taxis for airport collection and delivery 
worked perfectly and the advice and assistance of Pat were appreciated.

We had a really good time and would a) seriously consider returning and 
b) recommend to friends.

We like the location of # 14, being set in lovely gardens with a good sized pool on one side and the beautiful beach on the other, all hidden away from the bustle of Holetown's 1st Street.

We enjoyed having our G & Ts on the balcony before we turned in to the sound of tree frogs.
